What’s a wall tile?

Technically speaking, wall tiles have a rating of 0 on the PEI scale. It’s best to call these wall-only tiles as they can’t bear much weight and certainly can’t be used on floors.

However, they make super choices for kitchen splashbacks and shower walls; they’re relatively easy to install and a doddle to wipe clean. And that’s pretty important – after all, you don’t want to waste time wiping grease or oils off your shiny new splashback!

MARBLES

Marble is metamorphosed limestone, composed of fairly pure calcite (a crystalline form of calcium carbonate, CaCO3). It is extensively used for sculpture, as an building material, and in many other applications. The Taj Mahal in India is the best illustration of marble architecture.

GRANITES

Granite is a common and widely-occurring group of intrusive felsic igneous rocks that form at great depths and pressures under continents. Granite consists of orthoclase and plagioclase feldspars, quartz, hornblende, biotite, muscovite and minor accessory minerals such as magnetite, garnet, zircon and apatite.

VITRIFIED TILES

Vitrified tile is a tile that has undergone a certain process that gives it extremely low porosity, and thus, very low water absorption. This makes the tile hard and strong, as well as stain resistant. There are various benefits to using a high quality vitrified tile over natural marble or granite tiles. Most of them involve the overall durability and strength of the tiles, although they are often more attractive in the long run as well.
